Pocola Indians Basketball – Presented by Tote-A-Poke

Coach: Mark McKenzie

17-18 Record 21-7

Following back-to-back season just steps away from the Class 3A state tournament, the Lady Indians enter this year with a new look, not only new faces but a new style of play to match the players on the floor.  Emmas Damato (5-6, Jr.) begins her third season at guard while Mike Scott (5-10, So.) looks to expand her role in the Lady Indians success. Kenna Chitwood (6-0, Jr.) will give Pocola another tall presence in the post to match up with an energetic group of freshmen including Kylee Smith (5-9, Fr.), Kail Chitwood (5-11, Fr.) while coach Mark McKenzie turns to Brookly Kilpatrick (5-7, Sr.) for senior leadership amongst a young and talented roster.

McKenzie, a 27-year veteran on the bench at Pocola, also expects consistent efforts from Gracie Kuhns (5-7, Jr.) and Madison Linker (5-5, So.) as well as Aryanna Ellison (5-5, Fr.), Pressleigh Riggs (5-5, Fr.) and Bailey Lairamore (5-9, Fr.).

“We’re young but very talented,” said McKenzie noting the success of the Lady Indians program on the high school and junior high levels.  “It’s a competitive group that plays with non-stop energy. With time together on the court, we should be hitting our stride as the playoffs arrive.”
