McCurtain’s Mattie McClellan – Softball Spotlight Presented by Tote-A-Poke

Since her early start playing softball at age four, Mattie McClellan continues to thrive on playing her best with an “all-in” spirit of competition.

The high-energy second baseman for the Lady Bulldogs of McCurtain High School continues to deliver in the clutch whether defensively on the dirt or swinging the bat with a .473 batting average and using her quickness taking an extra base to move into scoring position.

In addition to softball, McClellan, who admits her favorite subject in school is math, is a 3-point scoring threat on the basketball court as well as maintaining a 4.0 GPA including mastery of her AP Chemistry assignments.

A member of 4-H and Yearbook, McClellan is a five year member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle at her school.

When asked about the secret to her team’s continued winning play, McClellan was quick to the point.

“If I tell you, then it won’t be a secret,” chuckled McClellan. “We’re a no-drama club which promotes team chemistry and confidence. We get along on and off the field.”

McClellan’s “favorites” include her watching her top-ranked TV Show, The Office in addition to playing video games including NBA 2K.

While explaining that her favorite food is chicken, McClellan didn’t hesitate when asked if she could eat at one place for an entire year, where would she choose to go?

“Absolutely, we’re going to Olive Garden. But could you deliver?”
